TV UCT broadcasts from Temuco, the capital of Chile's Araucanía Region — the heartland of the Mapuche people, Chile's largest indigenous group. The Araucanía is one of Chile's most culturally distinctive regions, where Mapuche language (Mapudungun), traditions, and identity remain strong. The region is also known for its stunning natural beauty — volcanoes, lakes, araucaria forests (monkey puzzle trees), and the gateway to Chile's Lake District.
As a university television channel, TV UCT serves an educational mission — producing academic content, covering university events, and providing a platform for student media professionals. The channel also covers regional news, Mapuche cultural events, local sports, and community affairs in a region that is often underrepresented in Chile's Santiago-centric national media.
